Silk Soles Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy

Policy Statement

This policy applies to all persons working for us on our behalf in any capacity. We prohibit the use of modern slavery and human trafficking in our operation. We have and will continue to implement systems and controls aimed at ensuring that trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our activies or those undertaken on our behalf in our supply chains. We expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.

Silk Soles is part of the Restrained Elegance family of sites which is operated by Dr. Hywel T. Phillips, a sole trader, who employs professional contractors as models and performers, and additional expert contractors for specific purposes such as website maintenance. A small number of photosets and videos were shot by trusted external professional photographers who are also required to abide by this policy.

 

Commitments

Modern Slavery is a term used to encompass slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, bonded and child labour and human trafficking. Human trafficking is where a person arranges or facilitates the travel of another person with a view to that person being exploited. Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights.

This is distinct from and completely separate to the portrayal of fictional, consensual BDSM activities which include themes of dominance and submission. As BDSM practitioners ourselves we emphasise the fictional, consenting play nature of these depictions. Our work is conducted with professional models and performers portraying fantasy situations, recorded on professional sets.

We are an organisation that expects everyone working with us or on our behalf to support and uphold the following measures to safeguard against trafficking:

• We have a zero-tolerance approach to trafficking in our organisation and supply chain.
• We and the contractors we work with must not engage in, facilitate or fail to report any activity that might lead to or suggest a breach of this policy.
• We take a risk-based approach to our contracting processes and keep them under review.
• If we find that individuals working on our behalf have breached this policy we will ensure that we take appropriate action. This may range from considering the possibility of breaches being remediated and whether that might represent the best outcome for those individuals impact by the breach to terminating such relationships.
